KBD not to be constructed without consensus: PM Gilani

Lahore : Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani on Wednesday again made it clear that we cannot annoy three provinces for the sake of Kala Bagh Dam adding that the Dam would not be constructed without consensus. While talking to host of journalists here in Lahore on Wednesday, Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that three provinces have approved resolutions against the controversial KBD hence in such grave circumstances, we cannot infuriate three provinces. About reports on the murder plot of the Lahore High Court Chief Justice, Gilani said a judicial inquiry into the matter was underway. Answering a question about the Kalabagh Dam, the PM stated it couldn’t be constructed in a period of one year and people raising voice for its support did nothing for its construction when they were in power. He said the PPP government would construct a dam that was supported by all the provinces. He further said the details of aid received for the flood victims would soon be released on the internet. Premier Gilani said that providing shelter to a huge population affected by massive flood was a great challenge faced by the government and it would utilize all possible means for this purpose. The PM said that he would issue a notification on the National Oversight Disaster Management Council (NODMC) within the next two days, as the provinces had named their members, while the federal government would also incorporate its representatives in it. The council would be entrusted to look after all the process of collection of donation as well as distribution of relief goods and compensation amount among the affected people, he added. Gilani said, “Distribution of compensation and rehabilitation of the flood victims is an uphill task,” assuring that flood-stricken families would not have any complaint regarding their relief and rehabilitation.
