Justice Ramday sees plot to malign judges

ISLAMABAD: Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday believes that a campaign is being run to malign the judges and asked the AG to seek from the government details of the legal fees received by his late brother Ch Raza Farooq so as to dig out the truth.

He expressed these views during the hearing of government’s review petition against the NRO verdict by a 17-member bench of the apex court here on Wednesday. The judge directed Attorney General Maulvi Anwarul Haq to procure complete details of the legal fees received by his (Ramday’s) late brother Chaudhry Raza Farooq being attorney general, under the head of advisory fees from the government.

He asked the AG to also get details as to who helped his late brother get the government’s advisory services and how much he earned under this head. The judge further asked the AG to procure from the Punjab government complete details of the fees obtained by his son, Mustafa Ramday, for rendering advisory services and as to who helped him get the government’s advisory services.

Justice Ramday said he was told by someone that in a private television talk show, it was being alleged that Justice Ramday’s late brother Raza Farooq had earned millions of rupees by rendering advisory services to the government while using his clout as AG. He said it was also alleged in the programme that his son, Mustafa Ramday, was also earning millions of rupees by rendering advisory services to the Punjabi government.

He said father-in-law of his son was a retired PIA chairman and may be Mustafa was using his influence. He also asked the AG to ask from Punjab government and check how much advisories Mustafa was rendering for the last two years and how much he earned in this head.

Justice Ramday further asked the AG to submit all the record including copies of the cheques paid to his son by the government for advisory services. He said after getting all the record of his late brother and son, he would make it public so that the people could know about the authenticity and truth of allegations levelled against his late brother and son. “It seems a campaign is in progress to malign judges,” Justice Ramday observed.

End.
