Justice Nasirul Mulk appointed new CJP

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday formally approved the appointment of Justice Nasirul Mulk as the new chief justice of Pakistan (CJP). He will replace the incumbent chief justice of Pakistan, Tassudaq Hussain Jillani, after his retirement on July 4.
Being the senior-most judge of the top court, Justice Nasirul Mulk would replace the current CJP after taking the oath at the Presidency from the president. Outgoing CJP Tassaduq Hussain Jillani is going to retire from the top court after serving in it as a judge for a decade and as CJP for a term of seven months. The full court reference of the apex court in honour of Justice Tassudaq Hussain Jillani would be held on July 4 and he will retire on July 5.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) will host Iftar dinner in honour of outgoing Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani on July 3.
Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani is retiring on July 05 after serving as Chief Justice of Pakistan for about seven months after the retirement of former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.
Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani who did not take oath under PCO on November 03, 2007 but after a period of one year he was appointed again as judge of the Supreme Court in year 2008 on the recommendations of the then Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar who also administered oath to Justice Jillani.
According to judgment of July 31, 2009, a bench headed by Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry removed more than one hundred judges of the superior courts who took oath under PCO or they were appointed on the recommendations of Justice Dogar but some of them including Chief Justice Tassadduq Hussain Jillani were not removed under the same.
Talking to dinner of the SCBA, President Supreme Court Bar Association Kamran Murtaza, judges of the supreme Court, Judges of the Islamabad High Court, Judges of the Lahore High Court, judges of the Federal Shariat Court, members of the Executive Committee of the SCBA, Attorney General for Pakistan, Vice Chairman Pakistan Bar Council Muhammad Ramzan Chaudhry, former presidents Supreme Court Bar Association including Muhammad Akram Sheikh, Hamid Khan, Asma Jehangir, Yasin Azada, Aitzaz Ahsan and Ali Ahmed kurd beside others and advocates of the Supreme court will participate in the dinner.
