Jamali urges govt to reconsider foreign policy vis-à-vis US

ISLAMABAD, April 03(Online): Former Prime Minister, Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali has urged government to review its foreign policy particularly in the backdrop of changing US mind-set and urged incumbent government to establish more vibrant relations with Iran, Saudi Arabia and China.
Talking to a private Tv channel, Mr Jamali Pakistan got nothing from US President George W Bush’s visit and we should review our policies towards America.
However, he expressed the optimism that President Musharraf has the ability to take bold steps in interest of the country.
Shedding light on situation of restive Balochistan province, the former premier said if President General Pervez Musharraf wishes then he (Jamli) can play his part in resolving the woes between center of Baloch Sardars to resolve the crisis situation of the province.
He said that he is ready to take into confidence the Baloch chieftains. He said that there are no warlords in Balochistan, adding that they are educated and sensible persons. He expressed his disappointment over the non-implementation of recommendations suggested by Constitutional committee on Balochistan.
Jamali while commenting on the uniform issue said that it depends on President General Pervez Musharraf when he would take off his uniform. He said that he was against to send troops in Iraq, adding that Pakistan should not recognize Israel. Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali said that he was against the polices of those leaders who participate in the politics abroad, adding that Benazir Bhutto should face cases in Pakistan.
Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali while commenting on Kala Bagh Dam issue, said that if the construction of th said dam had begun in 1986 then it would have cost less, adding that it was a economic issue but now it has become a political issue. He stressed to take a decision for the interest of Pakistan after taking into confidence all provinces and parties.
