LAHORE: PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to move forward carefully “as it is not twenty-20 game but a complete innings game”.

Addressing the ex-MNAs, MPAs, ticket holders of district, presidents and secretary generals hailing from the Gujranwala division at Kamoki he stated that politics of agitation was not suitable for democracy and politics of reconciliation was the way forward. He added that the opposition parties should get in touch with us and we would facilitate the engagement of the opposite political forces with the sole aim of redressing the grievances through dialogue leading to break the political inertia. He urged all the political forces of the country to forge unity and take upthe challenges facing the country with the spirit of national interest.

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has observed that Parliamentary forum is the best place to raise dissent and its impact is more worrying for the government of the day than taking the issues to the street in frustration

They should take the ownership collectively because no single party was in a position to address the problems the country was confronted with at present. He added that the nation had to take the ownership like it took in case of Pak- China relations and the success was the foregone conclusion. Similarly, the nation has to figure out a strategy to tackle the lingering problems of load shedding of gas and electricity, poverty, illiteracy and extremism, with consensus realizing these as national issues requiring measured up response within the democratic framework.

Zardari recalled that he voluntarily delegated his powers to the Parliament with the sole consideration of making the Parliament strong adding making the Parliament strong was analogous to making the democracy strong. Earlier, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, President PPP Punjab, in his speech expressed the gratitude of the PPP Punjab and his own for coming to down to Punjab to live here instead of on a tour for a short period of time. He added that today’s meeting here was the commencement of his engagements in the province that would continue for a longer period of time.

He thanked the Co- Chairman for this kind gesture that would reinvigorate the Party rank and file indeed, he added. He pointed out that the PPP Gujranwala was determined to make the Party as the top political force of this division. He said that the PPP office bearers were looking forward to meet him during his visits to all the districts of Punjab. It will provide an ideal opportunity to the local leadership to directly communicate with him with a view to make the Party a powerful political force of the province of Punjab. Paying rich tributes to the political far-sightedness of the CO- Chairman he said that his visionary approach to country’s politics had led to saving the democracy in a volatile environment.

His name will be written in golden words in the political history of the country in steering the democratic dispensation out of the woods in testing times, he observed. He said that the political analysts and observes were of the view that the role of the former President in the present political context was appreciable that was instrumental in saving democracy in the country. Tanvir Ashraf Kaira, Secretary General PPP Punjab and Suhail Milk Senior VP accompanied the President Punjab PPP. Zardari has asked Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to move forward carefully “as it is not twenty-20 game but a complete innings game”.
