Interfaith harmony must to avert clash of civilizations: British MP

ISLAMABAD, September 08(Online): Mr. David Drew, British Member of Parliament from labour party emphasized on the need of Dialogue and interfaith harmony among religions to avert the clash of civilization.
He observed this while talking to Shahbaz Bhatti, Chairman All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA), here on Wednesday.
He showed his deep concern over the growing misuse of blasphemy law and said, "Discrimination on the basis of religion caste, colour, creed and gender is unacceptable in enlightened progressive democratic societies. We will strengthen the bridge building efforts between Pakistan and West."
He said, "United Kingdom values Democratic norms, Supremacy of Parliament, gender equality, religious freedom and protection of Human rights as pillars for the establishment of enlightened, moderate and progressive society. Empowerment and up lift of marginalized and oppressed sections of society can only strengthen democratic norm and Human rights values in Pakistan."
Mr. David Drew said, "UK appreciate the efforts of Pakistan against terrorism and consider her an important ally. Terrorism should not be linked with any religion; it is a social evil and crime against humanity".
He said, "The political parties and human rights organization can play vital role for the stability of democracy, economic prosperity and inter communal unity in Pakistan and UK will continue to extend its cooperation to strengthen democratic process in Pakistan."
The British delegation applauded the efforts of All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA) for the promotion and protection of human rights, religious tolerance, social justice, development and prosperity of Pakistan. The British Members of Parliament delegation comprised of David drew MP, Mr. Stuart Windsor, Mr. Paul diamond and Mr. Ben Roger. The British delegation also extended invitation to Mr. Bhatti Chairman APMA to visit UK. End.
