PESHAWAR: The NWFP Assembly on Thursday unanimously reposed confidence in the leadership of Ameer Haider Hoti and all the 111 MPAs present in the House, including the opposition, stood up in support of the trust motion.
Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Barrister Arshad Abdullah and PPP`s Abdul Akbar Khan in separate resolutions had sought confidence of the House in the leadership of Ameer Hoti.
All the 111 MPAs present in the assembly stood up in support of the resolution when Speaker Kiramatullah Khan Chagharmatti put it to the vote. Three MPAs, Anwar Saifullah Khan of PPP, Sikandar Sherpao of PPP-S and Mufti Kifyatullah of the MMA, were not present during the special session summoned to repose confidence in the newly elected chief minister.
Amidst thumping of desks, the chief minister thanked the members for reposing confidence in him, saying it was not the confidence in his person, but trust in democracy, traditions, sincerity and bright future, for which all should jointly struggle.
Condemning the incidents of Karachi and Lahore as undemocratic and inhuman Hoti said the conspiracies had been started even before the formation of the federal and provincial governments.
"It is the collective responsibility of us all to check such conspiracies against democracy in the country," he said. "This is not the land of terrorists or suicide bombers, but the land of Pir Rokhan, Khushal Khan and Bacha Khan," he said, adding, "The war of others has been imposed on us."
End.
