LAHORE: As many as 222 Hindu pilgrims who were refused entry into India on Friday staged a protest at the Wagha Border following which they were granted permission to enter the country.

The yatris (pilgrims) had been stopped at the border by Rangers despite visas being issued by the Indian High Commission.

Rangers' officials said the pilgrims would be allowed to enter India once their no objection certificates (NOCs) were received. They said that documentation process of all the pilgrims has been completed.

Talking to reporters, the yatris said they were not migrating, but going on a pilgrimage. On Thursday, Interior Minister Rehman Malik termed the migration of Hindu families from Jacobabad a conspiracy against Pakistan.

End.
