29 October, 2014
KARACHI: At least nine people, mostly women, were injured in a cracker blast near an imambargah in the city on Tuesday.
Four women and two children are among the injured. AIG Ghulam Qadir Thaibu said assailants riding motorcycles threw a cracker near Islamic Research Centre and sped away. The cracker was lobbed when people were leaving the imambargah at the end of a majlis.
Meanwhile, security personnel reached the scene and cordoned off the imambargah. The injured were rushed to a nearby state-run hospital for emergency medical aid. Eyewitnesses said that miscreants hurled the cracker inside the imambargah from over a nearby flyover. According to the Bomb Disposal Squad, however, the blast was of a Russian-made hand grenade.
End.
