Govt has 'faith' in army, and it 'loves' media too: Pervaiz Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid said on Tuesday that the government has faith in the army, but it loves the media too.
He said all the national institutions were respectable and integral part of the state. "Every institution is playing its part according to the role written in the constitution," the minister said talking to newsmen after the inauguration ceremony of the National Book Day event at the Pak-China Friendship Centre.
"There is no difference of opinion among the institutions on the national agenda," he added. "People, government and parliament respect national security institutions. We have a relation of faith with them," the minister said. "We love our media also."
To a question about the arrival of Pervez Musharraf in Karachi, he said the rule of law was prevalent in all parts of Pakistan, whether it is Karachi, Lahore or Islamabad. The minister said talks with the Taliban were started in consultation with all the political parties and all the matters were going in the right direction. "Today, the state of Pakistan and national institutions are standing with the scholars and intellectuals. They are standing with those who speak the language of arguments and not of weapons."
"All state institutions are functioning within the limits defined by the constitution and this was the reason that no institution opposed any issue related to a national cause in the last five years," Rashid said.
Meanwhile, referring to pointing of fingers at premier intelligence agency ISI over the assassination attempt on anchorperson Hamid Mir, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that allegations should not be levelled against any institution of the country without evidence, as all national institutions are respectable and integral part of the state.
"Every institution is playing its part according to its role guided by the constitution. There is no difference of opinion among the institutions on the national agenda," he said while strongly condemning the attack on Hamid Mir. The interior minister said allegations should not be levelled against any institution of the country without any evidence. He said that those who are levelling allegations against an institution of the country are serving the "interests of others".
