ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday 30,January,2015 said that the government was trying its best to provide all possible resources required to properly look after and rehabilitate the internally displaced people. He expressed his confidence that "with the unswerving commitment of our nation, armed forces and the government, our efforts were bound to succeed”. "The sacrifices of the nation will never squander and our efforts will definitely yield positive results,” he remarked.

Addressing the annual Ambassadors’ Dinner of Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the president said that floods in Sindh, potential political instability, terrorism and heartbreaking massacre in Peshawar had shaken the nation. He said the ongoing crackdown against terrorists backed by the civil and military forces had made it clear that this nation was ready to end this scourge once and for all.

He further added that the Zarb-e-Azb operation was dealing with the menace of militancy and extremism holistically and described a peaceful Pakistan as essential for a peaceful South Asia.

The president added that he understood the expectations of general public from the government and in return expected a level of patience and adaptation given the situation country faced. He said the government was trying to address the multiple energy-related issues on priority and encourage foreign investors, as one such instance was the successful conclusion of the second phase of the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement between the Ministry of Commerce and the Government of China. These negotiations have allowed a deeper understanding and opening of the banking sector of two trading partners, he added.

President Mamnoon said that economic corridor would ensure economic revival of the country and would create thousands of employment opportunities for the people. He said that developed human resource depends on special attention towards education. He also stressed that elimination of corruption should be on top of the national agenda and assured government’s full support for developing and creating opportunities for generating viable economic activities in Pakistan and bringing prosperity to the people.

The president congratulated the LCCI for keeping up its tradition of holding LCCI’s annual ambassadorial dinner in Islamabad and said "we were here to lend support to this initiative and to demonstrate government’s commitment to facilitate the business community for its endeavours to promote trade and investment for Pakistan”.

Mamnoon said that "we remain one of the most open investment regimes in the world and all possible efforts were being made to invite and encourage foreign investors”. Persuading the ambassadors, the president expected them to play a supporting role for expanded trade relations between Pakistan and their respective countries, particularly to act as a conduit for channelling well-placed business opportunity information.
