ISLAMABAD: Namaz-e-Janaza of Shaheed Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam, who embraced Shahadat in an operation at Jamia Hafsa, Islamabad on Saturday was held at Chaklala on Sunday morning.

President General Pervez Musharraf, Vice Chief of Army Staff General Ahsan Saleem Hyat and a large number of other senior civil and military Officers and relatives of the Shaheed officer attended Nimaza-e-Jinaza and offered Fateha.

A smartly turned out contingent of the Army presented Guard of Honour to the Shaheed Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam.

According to the military sources, Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam had a respectable position in SSG due to his courage and bravery.

Later, the body of Shaheed Officer was sent to Lahore for burial through a special helicopter where he would be buried in Samanabad graveyard near the graveyard of his father.

Brother of Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam told that some of our relatives have to come from Canada and other countries and it is expected the he (Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam) would be buried on Tuesday. The body of late Army Officer was kept in CMH Lahore.

The martyred Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam belonged to a military family. His one brother is in FIA while other retired Army Officer while the late Shaheed Officer was also in Army and he was performing his services in Special Services Group (SSG).

Lieutenant Colonel Haroon Islam commissioned in Sindh Regiment in Pakistan Army in 1988. He joined Special Services Group in 1993. He has splendid military career. He was graduate of Command and Staff College Quetta and also recipient of Chief of Army Staff.

Because of his meritorious services he had been awarded Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card. Presently he was commanding a Commando Battalion. The shaheed officer is survived by a widow and two daughters Zainab Haroon, 5 years and Memoona Haroon, 4 Years
