LAHORE: The five-day parole granted to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lifetime head Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Muhammad Safdar will end today as request for extension is likely.

Nawaz, Maryam and Safdar, who were sentenced to 10 years , 7 years and 1 year respectively in prison in Avenfield case were granted parole by the Punjab government over the death of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, who passed away last week after a prolonged battle with cancer.

The parole period will end in the evening after which they will be transferred to Adiala jail. According to Express News, it is expected that the three might write an application to the provincial government requesting to grant a 5-day extension in parole.

Former first lady Kulsoom Nawaz was laid to rest at her family’s Jati Umra estate on Friday after a funeral prayer attended by hundreds of thousands of people, including leaders of ruling and opposition parties and workers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

The prayer was led by Tableegi Jamaat’s Maulana Tariq Jameel, who was driven to the venue, Sharif Medical Complex, by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar have been released from Adiala Jail on parole to join Begum Kulsoom’s burial rites
