Fire damages stock at towel factory

KARACHI: A mysterious fire erupted in a towel manufacturing factory situated near Shafiq Morr in early hours of Wednesday.
The city fire department official said they received information about a blaze at around 12.32 pm and subsequently three fire tenders were dispatched to the site. Upon reaching the site, the firemen asked for more tenders, as intensity of the fire had increased by that time. Soon a total of 15 fire tenders including one water douser one snorkel arrived at the spot and took part in the rescue operation.
It took three hours to douse the fire. Chief Fire Officer Saleem Ehtisham, while talking to our sources, said the fire initially erupted at the three-storey building, which soon spread also to the ground floor where a large quantity of threads were kept.
Answering a question, he said that large number of employees was inside the factory when the fire erupted but fortunately no one was hurt as all of them were safely evacuated before the fire got intensified. He informed that a large numbers of towel and threads stock had now been turned into ashes besides the fire also damaged the building. He said the actual cause of fire is yet to be determined.
