Fazl forms committee to reach deal with PML-N in Centre

ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Fazlur Rehman has formed a four-member committee to move forward with the PML-N on joining its government in Centre.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) are thrashing out the modalities to share power in the Centre and both the parties have come closer to the formula by overcoming some tricky issues. The PML-N is the leading political party in National Assembly by securing 124 seats in May 11 elections, while the JUI-F has ten seats in the Lower House of parliament.
On Sunday, JUI-F formed a committee for formation of alliance with PML-N. The JUI-F team is led by Senator Abdul Ghafoor Haideri and includes Akram Durrani, Maulana Naseeb Gul and Malik Sikandar.
Sources said that both the parties are progressing well on the power-sharing agreement in Centre with few differences, especially on governorship of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which the JUI-F wants from PML-N. The JUI-F leaders publicly announced that the party has not sought any ministry or governorship so far because the formal talks are yet to start.
However, sources pointed out that the JUI-F demanded ministries and governorship when Fazl and Shahbaz met a few days back. The constitution of the committee is an indication that the PML-N and JUI-F are serious about sharing power in Centre. When asked about the timeframe for the start of formal talks on power sharing, sources said that talks may start shortly because the session of the newly-elected assembly is to be summoned by the end of May.
