Fair LB polls not possible in current situation: Imran

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday said the local bodies polls in the given situation will not be transparent and reiterated his demand of voters' thumb verification in four constituencies of the National Assembly.
At a media briefing, Imran Khan called for the introduction of a biometric system on the pattern of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to make the electoral process transparent and rigging-free.The PTI chief maintained that for survival and strengthening of democracy in Pakistan, electoral reforms were imperative and claimed that in the general elections on May 11, the sanctity of ballot box was violated by adopting various ways of rigging.
He urged the superior judiciary and the media to come forward and support his party's 'genuine' demands regarding reforms in the electoral system in Pakistan. He maintained that if the government had not resorted to rigging, then why it was afraid of electoral probes and got stayed the election tribunals by the high courts.
