QUETTA: At least eight people were killed and 10 others injured in back-to-back hand grenade explosions in the city on Wednesday.
"Unidentified men riding bikes tossed hand grenades in two adjacent shops of hairdressers on Zarghoon Road within the precincts of Industrial Police Station and fled," Senior Superintendent of Police(Operations) Aetzaz Goraya said while talking to APP.
Later, the armed men also fired at the shops. Two people were killed on the spot while eleven others injured in the explosion and sporadic firing. One injured died while being shifted to hospital.
The SSP said the number of assailants could not be ascertained as all shops were closed soon after the blast. A man was killed and another injured when unidentified men hurled a hand grenade in a photocopier's shop on Sariab Road.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for medical aid. Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch condemned the incident and called for early arrest of the culprits.
