QUETTA: As many as eight labourers were kidnapped and subsequently killed in Lesbela District of Balochistan on Sunday. The victims belonged to different areas of Punjab.

According to Lesbela police, a group of armed men barged into a poultry farm in Abbas Goth area of Lesbela District and kidnapped nine labourers. The armed men took the labourers to the nearby mountains where they opened fire at them.

"The bodies of eight labourers were found dumped in the mountainous area. All the victims received bullet wounds. One labourer was found injured," a police officer at Lesbela district said. Quoting the injured labourer police said the kidnappers opened fire at the labourers after checking their ID cards.

The dead bodies and injured were brought to Jam Ghulam Qadir Hospital for autopsies and treatment. The bodies bore multiple marks of bullets, added police officials. Police said that the victims were residents of Multan, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalpur and other towns of Punjab. It said there have been no claims of responsibility for the killings of labourers.

Spokesperson of the Balochistan government condemned the kidnapping and killing of the innocent labourers.

"The law enforcing agencies should ensure the arrest of the culprits involved in this heinous crime on immediate basis," Jan Buledi, spokesperson for Balochistan government, said.
