Dual nationality clause takes heavy toll on MQM

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza has accepted resignations of four MNAs of the MQM who had failed to submit their affidavits' regarding dual nationality by the deadline set by the ECP.
The legislators who have resigned are: Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi, Syed Tayyab Hussain, Fauzia Ejaz and Dr Nadeem Ahsan. Meanwhile, three members of the Sindh Assembly on Sunday took fresh oath of office while one of them became minister for the first time after late-night talks between MQM and PPP. The MPAs are: Murad Ali Shah, Sadiq Memon and Khawaja Izharul Hasan.
Moreover, Senator Raza Haroon of MQM has been made special adviser to the Sindh CM. The oath was administered by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad. It must be noted that six members of the Sindh Assembly, including four ministers, have tendered their resignations because they held dual nationalities.
