ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri on Sunday people would wage a war against the rulers if justice and rights were denied.

"Change in the country's exploitative system can't be attained from existing parliament," the PAT chief said. He said his struggle was not undemocratic and the PAT's movement was not for any particular sect rather it was for the people belonging to different castes.

Qadri said, "Change is impossible through the current parliament, while a revolution movement is the need of the hour," he said. "Our movement is in favour of the rights of 180 million peoples of the country and we need a new social contract," Qadri told his followers.

Addressing his die-hard party workers after a meeting of the PAT core committee, Qadri said, "We are struggling to get the masses their due rights and to save them from slavery. PAT is not only fighting a war for the rights of Muslims but also for minorities."

He said, "Our movement is for all irrespective of their religion, sect and class. We are also fighting for the rights of minorities."

"Existing assemblies comprises of looters and feudal. I want to see a common man as the representative of parliament and for the cause I am ready to sacrifice my life," Dr Qadri said.

Cursing the present democratic system, Qadri raised questions about the legality of parliament and the government. He said landlord lawmakers were becoming millionaires, while the poor people were becoming poorer and dying of starvation. He said the rulers have come to power as a result of a rigged election and fake mandate.

"What form of democracy is this where poor have no bread, shelter and health facilities while rich are filling their coffers and poor are dying of starvation?" Qadri exclaimed. "Where is rule of law, democracy, supremacy of constitution, humanity?"

The PAT chief said bringing economical democracy was mandatory prior to political democracy and said democracy ensured equality and justice without any discrimination. He said that the people have become aware about the lies and mockery of rulers.

Outlining his thoughts about democracy, Qadri noted that it was meant for transparency, equality and immediate dispensation of justice for everyone. He said democracy was meant to bring transparency and equality besides prospering the poor.

Qadri also flayed provision of medical facilities to the lawmakers and pointed out that the legislators enjoyed millions of rupees worth medical treatment without any audit.

"I did not obtain a single penny in the name of medical facility when I was a member of parliament," Qadri claimed.

Perturbed over a news item titled as "rented revolutionaries", published by an international media house, Qadri rejected the allegations and declared that people have come here on their own. "Whoever wants to go back is allowed to do so," Qadri announced.

The PAT chief also appealed to the affluent people to assist the flood victims and participants of the revolution march. He requested the people to submit funds at offices of Minhajul Quran in various cities. He welcomed all those who came from abroad to join the sit-in.

End.
