LAHORE: Chairman All Pakistan Minorities Alliance (APMA), Shahbaz Bhatti has said that a countrywide campaign would be launched for elimination of discriminatory laws against minorities, promotion of interfaith harmony and national integrity.

He was addressing Lahore High Court Bar Association here on Monday. He underlined the need for constituting a national council for freedom of judiciary, effective legislation and protection of constitution and counter terrorism. The council he said must comprise of lawyers, journalists, religious and political parties, minorities and other segments of the society.

"There must be a legislation to ensure restoration of true democracy in the country and check division of parties and horse trading," he added.

He said that the minorities be given right of representation in upper courts because they had played key role in Pakistan movement. He demanded more seats for minorities in the National Assembly and Senate and abrogation of discriminatory laws.
