RIYADH: In a statement issued in Riyadh, the Prime Minister said the country is in a state of war and military courts have been approved for a limited time only to root out terrorism and extremism from the country. He said the PML (N) has played a proactive role in the restoration of judiciary and respects the independence of the judiciary, adding, amendment in the Constitution should not be construed otherwise. Prime Minister Sharif, who arrived here Thursday on a two-day private visit, said the PML (N) government respects and implements all judicial decisions in letter and spirit.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said the government resorted to the establishment of military courts as a last resort to meet the challenges posed by extraordinary circumstances through which the country is currently passing.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud met on Thursday and discussed ways of enhancing relations between the two countries in diverse fields. Crown Prince Salman, who is also the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, received Prime Minister Sharif here at the Al-Yamamah Palace. During the meeting, the two sides emphasized the importance of close bilateral relations between the two countries and focused on the latest regional and international developments. The Prime Minister said he had come to pay respect and extend good wishes for the speedy recovery, good health and long life of the Custodian of two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by his Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Manzour Al-Haq. From the Saudi side, the audience was attended by Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Premier, Advisor and Special Envoy of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; Prince Khalid bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Chief of General Intelligence; Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Minister of National Guard; Prince Turki bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region; Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of State, cabinet member and Chief of the Crown Prince’s Court and Special Advisor; and Minister of State and Cabinet’s Member Dr Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday 15.January,2015 visited Khadimul Harmain Sharifain King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and enquired about his health. The Prime Minister prayed for his good health, recovery and long life. He remained there for some time and later left for Jeddah. The Prime Minister will be performing Umrah and also visit Madinah Munawarrah to pay homage at Roza-e-Rasool Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH). Expressing concern over the health of the King, the Prime Minister said being custodians of the Holy Mosques Saudi leadership has a special place in the heart of every Pakistani, adding that the Pakistani nation is praying for his speedy recovery and long life.
