NANKANA SAHIB: The three-day celebrations of the 542nd birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak, founder of Sikh religion, concluded at the Gurdwara Janam Asthan here on Thursday.

The celebrations concluded soon after the Palki (palanquin) procession, which remained inside the Gurdwara instead of its traditional route. The Palki procession was taken out at 1:00pm and concluded at 3:00pm in which thousands of Sikh Yatrees participated with religious zeal, chanting religious slogans.

MNA Manohar Lal represented Pakistan in the concluding ceremony. The ETPB chairman Syed Asif Hashmi; Christopher of Switzerland; former DCO Nankana Sahib Nabeel Javed and his wife also attended the ceremony.

Later, DCO Nankana Sahib Dr Haidar Ashraf extended his gratitude to the Sikh Yatrees on behalf of Pakistan government. Talking to media men he stressed the print and the electronic media to play their active role in removing misunderstandings and ease tensions between Pakistan and India. Meanwhile, stringent security arrangements were made by the law enforcement agencies and the police.

The Sikh Yatrees will leave for Sacha Sauda (Farooqabad) and then will leave for Hasan Abdal. —APP Our correspondent adds: UK yatrees group leader Dr Olak Singh has said that the world should pay attention to the violation of human rights in India.

Talking to our sources at Nankana Sahib on Thursday, he claimed that the Hindus had damaged the Khalsa Movement while the Indian forces killed 20,000 Sikhs in Golden Temple. 'The Sikhs will remain slave till their independence and creation of Khalistan,' he maintained.

End.
