MUZAFFARABAD: Indian troops on Monday reportedly fired from across the Line of Control near Kotli in Azad Jammu Kashmir, a private TV channel reported.

This was the second time during a week in which shots had been fired from across the Line of Control in violation of the ceasefire. Indian troops opened fire in the Kothra sub-sector near Kotli, upon which the Pakistan Army retaliated and returned fire.

No casualties were reported in the incident. Last week, the Inter-Services Public Relations had reported that Indian troops had fired in the Poonch sector along the LoC by using mortar and other heavy weapons which had been strongly responded by Pakistan side.

"Pakistan Army troops resorted to small arms and automatic weapons firing on Indian posts along LoC in Bhimber Gali in Rajouri district," the Press Trust of India quoted defence official as saying. The official said that the army troops guarding the borderline fired back resulting in intermittent exchanges of fire.

End.
