British High Commission reposes confidence in Pak judiciary
18 August, 2005
ISLAMABAD, August 19 (Online): The British High Commission has reposed its confidence in the judicial system of Pakistan and hoped that the judiciary would deal perpetrators who attacked two of its staff members with impartiality.
In a statement issued here on Thursday, the British High Commission expressed its concerned at distortions appearing in some sections of the Pakistani press over an attack on two of its staff, which took place in the early hours of 7 August.
It says that no obscene gestures or insulting language were used by the BHC staff members concerned. The physical attack on our staff members was cowardly and unprovoked and involved the deliberate beating, including blows to the face, of a female staff member while her fiancé, who was accompanying her, was prevented by others among the assailants from coming to her assistance.
The British High Commission has complete confidence in the impartiality and integrity of Pakistan's legal system in bringing to justice the perpetrators of this assault which has dishonoured Pakistan's great tradition of hospitality.
The British High Commission is grateful for the full support and cooperation it has received from the Islamabad police in handling this incident.
End.
