Attack on Peshawar church, attack on federation: Ch Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Federal interior minister, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has termed the suicide attack on Peshawar church as an attack on the Federation, rather than attack on a minority community.
Conveying the policy statement on Peshawar church attack in the National Assembly, he declared the gory, vicious suicide bombing of Peshawar church as beyond anything human; "God knows, what kind of terrorists were these, and what they wanted to achieve with their most heinous inhuman act ever", he expressed.
He said that Pakistani Nation was not frightened, nor would it ever be frightened in future through such barbarous and under-handed methods of harassment: "rather a stronger sense of solidarity and resolve has risen" he declared.
He offered his deepest condolences and regrets over killing of a total of 81, including 34women and 7 children, and one FC personnel martyred due to this attack, besides also injuring 37 children and 10 serious casualties among a total of 137 injured. Including a police constable
He lauded the prudent tolerance and cool-headedness of Christian Bishops, fathers and fraternity representatives over the vicious incident, while also appreciating the zealous services rendered by medical staff of Lady Reading Hospital.
Announcing 3-day mourning over this National tragedy, Nisar also announced summoning of an important meeting of Christian leaders in 3 days' time to evolve a strategy for providing security to Christian community.
He also promised on behalf of federal government to re-construct the battered church anew with cooperation of the Provincial government; while also announcing that only one group had accepted the responsibility for the blast, which could not be ascertained so far.
Earlier federal minister Zahid Hamid, adjourned the regular House business to table a motion for condoling loss of precious lives in the deadly incident, which was unanimously approved by the House, followed by a Declaration that "this House expresses its deepest sorrows, condolences over the loss of lives in Sunday's suicide attack on church".
Afterwards addressing the Assembly, opposition leader Syed Khurshid Shah declared the incident as National tragedy, "which was 210th such incident, occurring since long".
He also expressed satisfaction over the positive attitude of politicians, who refrained from any political scoring over the issue, stressing on refraining from criticism for criticism's sake.
Meanwhile parliamentarians, who observed one-minute silence over the tragedy, wore black armbands to express protest against the gory incident.
