All set for Eid-e-Miladun Nabi (PBUH)

LAHORE: Preparations for Eid-e-Miladun Nabi (PBUH) are gaining momentum and roads and buildings are being decorated with colourful buntings, banners and lights in the provincial capital.
Large banners and billboards are being displayed in the city to celebrate the birth of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Mosques, homes and plazas are being decorated with colourful lights and buntings.
Like every year, the provincial government has planned a number of activities to celebrate the event.
Newspapers and magazines will publish special additions while television channels and radio stations will broadcast special Naatia Mushairas and quiz programmes on Seerat-e-Mustafa (PBUH).
Arrangements finalised: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin said arrangements on Eid-e-Miladun Nabi (PBUH) have finalized to facilitate the participants of the processions.
In a meeting of Divisional Aman Committee comprising of Ulema for reviewing arrangements, the minister stressed upon people to forge unity for solidarity and prosperity of the country.
The minister said the Muslims could succeed in this world and the hereafter by following the teachings of Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).
Later, Commissioner Rashid Mahmood said the CCTV cameras, and control rooms would remain operational in the division, adding that a traffic plan had also been evolved for the processions.
DCOs of four districts and police officers briefed the meeting about arrangements and the Aman Committee expressed satisfaction over arrangements and assured the administration of their cooperation.
The DCOs, DIG Operations Lahore Rana Abdul Jabbar, MPA Majid Zahoor, officials of Rescue 1122, PHA and the health department were also present.
Meanwhile, Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony Punjab Vice Chairman Zaheer Ahmad Butt has urged Ulema of all schools of thought to ensure peace on Eid-e-Miladun Nabi (PBUH) in the country.
Talking to APP, he said the country was facing a tough time and peace in society was highly needed as the enemy wanted to divide the nation in several sections for its evil designs.
He said all sects had been living here for centuries and there were no serious clashes among sects, adding it could be any third element that wanted unrest in the country.
"In the circumstances, it is the responsibility of Ulema, Mashaikh and religious leaders to understand the situation wisely and work for peace," he added.
Law enforcers on alert: DIG Operations Rana Abdul Jabbar said that police had made a comprehensive security plan for Eid-e-Miladun Nabi under which 10,000 officials would perform duties.
He directed police officials to check persons staying in hotels, bus and van stands to avert any terrorist activity on the occasion.
The police would remain high alert to maintain law and order in the city on Eid Milad un Nabi, he told.
Special measures have been taken at the entry and exit points of the city. The DIG said that 4,000 volunteers would also perform duties with the police.
He said rescue teams would also be put on high alert. He directed divisional SPs to strictly act upon the security plan for Eid Miladun Nabi and appealed to citizens to cooperate with the police during checking.
Ulema ask Taliban to desist from violence on Eid-e-Milad
Over 100 ulema, mashaikhs and scholars hailing from Sunni Ulema Board on Sunday asked the Taliban to desist from subversive activities on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH).
In a joint statement, they said Eid Miladun Nabi (PBUH) gives the message of tolerance and peace. On this occasion, the terrorists should announce their surrender and start a new era of peace and prosperity in the country, they added. They said killing in the name of religion was against the teachings of Islam.
Due to subversive activities against innocent people, the new generation is going away from the religion, they added. The ulema said that the power of argument should be used, instead of the barrel of a gun.
