ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) has submitted an adjournment motion in the National Assembly against ban put by Pakistan Cricket Board on fast blower Shoaib Akhtar for five years from playing international cricket for the country.
After submitting adjournment motion, Member National Assembly Hanif Abbasi told Online that the motion-carrying signatures of five MNAs including Muhammad Tahir, Muhammad Junaid Anwar, Hanif Abbasi, Malik Abrar and Muhammad Jamil were submitted in the National Assembly Secretariate.
The issues related to appointment of Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board, his tenure and privileges being given to him (Chairman PCB) has been raised in the motion, he said, adding that, the issue to put ban on world fastest blower Shoaib Akhtar for five years would be raised in the lower house.
Answering to a question, he thinks that the decision taken by PCB to put ban on Shoaib Akhtar for five years from playing international cricket for the country was based on personal enmity.
"Neither I have any personal relations with Shoaib Akhtar nor he is my friend I took the decision due to concern being created among the masses over putting ban on Akhtar", he concluded.
Meanwhile, Strongly Condemning five years ban imposed on fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Member National Assembly of Pakistan Muslim League-N, Hanif Abbasi has demanded the government to fire Chairman PCB, Dr. Nasim Ashraf.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday with members national assembly Tariq Chaudhary and Malik Abrar, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that if Dr. Nasim Ashraf was not removed from the office of chairman PCB, then the parliament would take the decision in accordance with the aspirations of the people.
Criticizing Dr. Nasim Ashraf, the member national assembly said that he (Ashraf) was assigned the responsibilities of Chairman PCB merely on the basis of the favoritism and indulging in the character assassination of national heroes of the country.
Muhammad Hanif Abbasi said that it is not his objective to support or oppose the five years ban on Shoaib but the ban is unjustified, adding that the people of the country have also rejected the ban.
He held responsible the poor policies by present Cricket Board for humiliating defeat in the last Cricket World Cup played in the West Indies, adding that Pakistan’s cricket team now even cannot compete with teams like Australia and South Africa.
The Chairman PCB should be a former Pakistani cricketer while Pakistani coach should be appointed instead of the foreign coach, he demanded.
End.
