APP adds: The Supreme Court expressed displeasure over the failure to take action against the culprits involved in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) scam despite clear-cut orders of the apex court.
The court also expressed the resolve that it would take the case to its logical conclusion and would not leave any stone unturned for bringing back the looted money to the national exchequer. During the course of hearing, the bench noted that the looted money in the NICL scam had been shifted to foreign banks and honest officers probing the case were transferred so as to give protection to culprits.
The bench remarked that there had been a separate law for the rich and poor for the last 60 years, which would be terminated as everyone was equal before the law. The bench came down hard on the performance of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for not taking the culprits of the NICL to task, terming the FIA's performance as zero. Later, the bench adjourned further hearing of the case till November 5.
