5 Major Generals promoted to Lt Gen rank

RAWALPINDI: Five Major Generals have been approved for promotion to the rank of Lieutenant General. Those approved include Major General Raza Muhammad Khan, Major General Masood Aslam, Major General Shafqaat Ullah Shah, Major General Mohammad Hamid Khan and Major General Israr Ahmad Ghumman.

Major General Raza Muhammad Khan was commissioned in 1971 in Artillery. He is graduate of Command and staff College Quetta, Pakistan Naval Staff College, National Defence College Islamabad and US Army War College. He has held various operational command, staff and instructional appointments. He has commanded an infantry brigade and a division. At presently, he is Director General (Operations and Plans) at the joint services Headquarters. He has been appointed Commandant National College on promotion.

Major General Masood Aslam SJ was commissioned in 1971 in Punjab Regiment. He is a graduate of Command and staff College Quetta, Pakistan Naval Staff College, National Defence College Islamabad. He has vast operational and varied experience of command, staff and instructional appointments. He has commanded an infantry division. Presently, he is Director General National Accountability Bureau Punjab. He has been appointed Inspector General Training and Evaluation at General Headquarters on promotion.

Major General, Shafqaat Ullah Shah, was commissioned in 1971 in Baloch Regiment. He is a graduate of National Defence College Islamabad. He has also graduated from Staff College Camberly (United Kingdom) He has vast operational and varied experience of command, staff and instructional appointments. He has commanded an infantry brigade and a division. Presently he is doing as Military Secretary to President. He has been appointed Corps Commander Lahore, on promotion.

Major General Mohammad Hamid Khan was commissioned in 1971 in Armoured Corps. He is a graduate of Command and staff College Quetta and National Defence College Islamabad. He has also graduated from Staff College UK. He has vast operational and varied experience of command, staff and instructional appointments. Besides commanding an infantry and armoured brigade, he has commanded both an armoured and infantry divisions and has also been Inspector General Frontier Corps, NWFP. Presently he is doing as Chief Instructor, (War Wing) at National Defence College Islamabad. He has been appointed Corps Commander Peshawar, on promotion.

Major General Israr Ahmad Ghumman was commissioned in 1971 in Armoured Corps. He is a graduate of Command and staff College Quetta and National Defence College Islamabad. He has also graduated from Staff College Bangladesh. He has vast operational and varied experience of command, staff and instructional appointments.

He has commanded an armoured division and at present is doing as Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila. He will continue as Chairman Heavy Industries Taxila in the next rank.

Lieutenant General Anis Ahmad Abbasi, presently posted as Chief of Logistics Staff at General Headquarters, has been appointed Corps Commander Gujranwala.

Lieutenant General Muhammad Sabir, presently Corps Commander Gujranwala, has been appointed Military Secretary at General Headquarters.

Lieutenant General Safdar Hussain, who is presently doing as Corps Commander Peshawar, has been appointed Chief of Logistics Staff at the General Headquarters.
