KABUL/LASHKARGAH: Four Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and six more injured in separate violence-related incidents in various parts of the country over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence said Sunday.

A defence ministry press release stated the ANA soldiers suffered casualties in attack and blasts of the enemy in Paktika, Logar and Kandahar provinces over the past 24 hours.

The press release said 11 armed opponents were killed and one was held along with five weapons during joint operation in Gilan district in Ghazni province.

The press release maintained a person was held along with five weapons in Argun district in Paktika, eight were arrested in Sabari district in Khost, two in Khogiani district in Nangarhar and three in Muhammad Agha district in Logar province.

Two armed opponents were killed and 10 more suspects held along with weapons and other war gadget during search operation of the Afghan National Army in Maiwand district in Kandahar province, the statement added.

Thirteen IEDs were seized and defused in Bakwa district in Farah and five in Grishk district in Helmand province, the press release maintained.

The armed opponents have not said anything in this regard till filling of this report.

Meanwhile, three police personnel were among six persons killed and three more cops sustained injuries in a Taliban attack in Grishk district in Helmand province last night, an official said Sunday.

The Taliban attacked a security checkpost in Grishk district last night, the Helmand police spokesman Farid Ahmad Farhang told AIP.

Three police personnel, including the commander of the checkpost were killed while three more sustained injuries in the gunfight, he added.

Relatives of the commander came under the attack of Taliban while they were on their way to support him in the gunfight, he said, adding his brother and two cousins were killed in the assault.

The Taliban also suffered casualties, he said, adding he did not have accurate information in this regard.

Meanwhile, the Taliban spokesman Qari Muhammad Yousaf Ahmadi told the AIP that five police personnel were killed and a fighter was injured in the clash.

He said their fighters set on fire the checkpost, a vehicle and three motorcycles.
