12 arrested in crackdown on defunct organizations

FAISALABAD, July 19 (Online) At least 18 suspected militants were arrested in a nationwide crack down on various defunct militant and other organizations on Monday.
According to the details, about 12 suspects, including some foreigners have been arrested in the crackdown initiated by the security apparatus of the country. The operation covered a wide spectrum of the province, including such cities as, Faisalabad, Jaranwala, Peer Mahal, Kamalia and Multan.
Security and intelligence services conducted a midnight operation in Faisalabad's locality of Usman Town, from where they arrested two suspects. One was a factory labor named Nazir Ahmad, whereas the other, Shazad was owner of a snooker club. Both have been detained at an unknown station for interrogation. Both the persons belonged to the same township.
Two more persons were also arrested, whose names were being kept secret so for security purposes. These two persons had migrated from Gujranwala to a rented house in Faisalabad for the last few years. Both have been indicted of working for a defunct religious organization and are considered to be experts in bomb making techniques.
The sources also opine that these two were arrested on the information supplied by the arrested Al - Qaeeda operative and leader Ms Zubieda .
But their arrest and indictments has been severely refuted and has been considered as totally unaccounted for and unfair by relatives, kin, neighbors and street dwellers.
According to the sources, DPOs , acting on strict directives of the Home Ministry has also started probing and collecting data on all foreign students in various districts and tehsils of the province.
