MIRANSHAH: The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Sunday announced a 10-member political committee to monitor the dialogue process with the government.

Qari Shakil would lead the political committee, while Sheikh Khalid Haqqani, Azam Tariq, Umar Khalid Khurasani, Qari Bashir, Shahidullah Shahid, Asmatullah Muawiya are also included in the committee.

Talking to a private TV channel from an undisclosed location, TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said this committee will monitor the dialogue process between the government and the arbitration committee. He said this committee will also convey the Taliban's demands to the government's committee through the arbitration committee.

Shahidullah Shahid said in the past the government used dialogue as a war tool, adding that due to this factor peace could not be established in the country.

The TTP spokesman hoped that negotiations would succeed in favour of Shariah. The meetings between the Taliban and the committee would not be held in North Waziristan. The five-member committee would conduct negotiations with the government committee and will later hold meetings with the political committee and the TTP shura.

Online adds from Islamabad: The TTP spokesman expressed the hope that the government will foster trustworthiness this time round. In a statement, Shahidullah Shahid said the Taliban shura meeting took detailed stock of the government's announcement regarding its dialogue team.

The statement said the TTP's political shura would guide the Taliban's five-member committee during the dialogue, which wanted to go ahead with a sincere and result-oriented dialogue.

End.
